Barry PotterSenior Vice President, EMEA
Barry Potter is Altair Global’s SVP of EMEA. Based in the UK, he oversees our offices in London, Paris, Brussels, and The Hague. He is a multi-dimensional, well-rounded leader with vast and diverse experience in mobility operations, expatriate life, corporate mobility, entrepreneurship, and…long-distance motorcycling.
Barry began his career in mobility in London in 1990, specializing in UK domestic relocation before experiencing life as an expat in Houston to learn U.S. domestic relocation. Barry then spent several years on the client side as the regional and global mobility lead for two blue-chip corporations based in London. He was then recruited to set up the EMEA division of a well-known U.S.-based relocation management company before leaving to set up his own niche mobility company, which he sold in 2015.
All that being said, Barry is obviously qualified to lead this region. But what’s even better is that he does it with expert business acumen coupled with a sense of fun and adventure. Following the sale of his business, he took a year off to ride all around Europe – and even cruise the mountain passes between Switzerland, Austria, and Italy (à la Ewan McGregor in the “Long Way Round” – but even longer and not televised like a show off). He is the proud father of two grown boys and is quoted as saying, “I live vicariously through them to be the rock star and rugby champ I could never be.”
In addition to motorcycling, Barry is an avid skier and plays badminton and squash in true British form. A country man at heart, he prefers to escape the hustle and bustle of central London for the deep Kentish countryside, which he says is the perfect excuse for getting the motorcycle out almost every day. Adventurous, humorous, and intuitive, Barry is a wonderful addition to our executive team at Altair Global!
