COVID-19 England Update

New lockdown measures apply in England for the next four weeks up to 2 December to help limit the spread of the Coronavirus. The relevant authorities will have the power to enforce the restrictions through fines and dispersing gatherings.

Lockdown Restrictions

Under the new UK lockdown guidelines, citizens must not leave their homes except for specific reasons including: work purposes (if one is unable to work from home), exercising outdoors but only with persons that one lives with, any medical concerns and shopping for basic necessities such as food and medicine. Schools and universities will remain open.

For those planning to travel into England, it is suggested to check the current travel corridor list to see whether it’s necessary to isolate for 14 days. It is required to abide by the new restrictions even if one does not need to isolate.

If one needs to travel overseas before 2 December (and is legally permitted to do so, e.g., for work), they should look at the rules in place at their destination (Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) travel advice).

Global mobility into England will be impacted; however, moving home will still be allowed during the restrictions. Household goods removal companies, estate agents and tradespeople can continue to work but must follow COVID-19 safety guidelines.
