Altair Global Employees Pack Nearly 26,000 Meals in One Hour
PLANO, TX (April 21, 2014) – During Altair Global’s Quarterly Business Meeting and Breakfast on Thursday, employees packed 25,920 meals in one hour, which will provide lunch for 220 at-risk children for an entire school year. The event, known as a “Pack-a-Thon,” was held in conjunction with Feed the Hunger, an organization whose mission is to feed starving children through nutritious food packets.
Each food packet, which costs only $0.27 to produce and ship, can provide six servings of food and contains rice, soy protein, dehydrated vegetables, and a vitamin powder. The corporate giving initiative was a surprise for Altair employees who believed they were simply attending a typical quarterly business meeting. Altair will continue their large-scale corporate giving initiatives throughout the year.
“I tell people all the time that I love my job – Altair is truly a great place to work. But today was different. Today I was truly proud to be part of an organization that thinks not only of the business, bottom line, and its employees, but about our impact on the local community, country, and even the world – and we don’t just say it, we do it,” said Allison Gurley, Manager of Global Consulting Services for The Americas. “I can’t think of a more perfect way to bring us all together for such a wonderful cause as feeding children who may otherwise have nothing to eat.”
“We care deeply about our employees and we know our employees care about giving back,” said Chad Sterling, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer for Altair. “It’s a privilege to have our entire company participate in an event like this where we know the food we packaged will have a direct and positive impact on the lives of children here and around the world.”
