Altair Global Explores AI and Global Mobility in WERC Article

Altair Global has explored various ways to adopt Artificial Intelligence (AI) in talent mobility across multiple departments, utilizing it as a tool to enhance our practices and reduce time-consuming tasks for our team members — all while continuing to elevate each pillar of our Experience Management (XM) initiative.

In a recent WERC article, “Smarter Moves: Align AI with Talent Mobility’s People Strategies,” Altair Global’s Jason Beaudreau, Chief Technology Officer, Kathryn Cassidy, President and Chief Operating Officer, and others discuss how Altair has strategically integrated AI as a tool in mobility to enhance experiences, raise efficiency, create a virtual assistant, and more, while remaining one step ahead in cybersecurity and compliance.

Stepping Toward AI

While Altair has been embracing and innovating with AI technology over the past several years, the technology had an overall cautious beginning in the mobility industry. Just last year, Altair conducted a poll on LinkedIn with 52% of participants stating they had still not implemented AI in their relocation process. Recently, AI has taken off with more corporate relocation-focused users finding ways to integrate the technology within their work, whether that be with policies, guidance, or assisting tasks.

The Launch of Ali, our AI-Powered Virtual Assistant

In 2024, we celebrated the introduction of a new virtual team member: our AI-powered virtual assistant, Ali. With the capabilities to assist relocating customers with their policy and benefits in 95 languages, Ali had already answered more than 3,300 questions within three months of launching, covering topics like housing, travel, and expenses as the top categories that were asked.

Ali provides answers instantly, even late at night. In fact, two-thirds of conversations with our virtual AI assistant have occurred in the evening. Because of the accessibility of Ali, relocating employees are able to get the answers they need when they need them. Now, our Consultants can focus on more intricate needs for relocating employees, but are still available if a conversation with Ali escalates or if they’d simply prefer contacting a Consultant directly.

AI and Compliance

One of the hesitations or challenges people face in global mobility and AI adoption is ensuring that data privacy is maintained. As AI spreads and advances, keeping up with compliance, establishing trust, and transparency are all key as a relocation management company (RMC). With our growth of AI utilization, we ensure we are staying compliant every step of the way. That’s why this year, we we’re proud to have become the first RMC to sign the EU AI Pact, furthering our commitment and responsibility to ethical AI development.

AI and Beyond

While we embrace the coming years of AI adoption and development, we never sacrifice the core values of relocation and mobility – the importance of the human touch in a people-first industry.
